Why pair Bali with Raja Ampat?

Your journey, day by day
The outline below is our most requested eight-day shape. Your coordinator will stretch or compress it around your dates, your children and your appetite for diving.
Days 1–3 — Bali: arrival, villa and wellness
The journey opens with VIP airport fast-track at Denpasar, from USD 160 per guest: met near the aircraft, walked through immigration, luggage handled for you. A private chauffeur waits outside — an Alphard from around USD 120 per day, a premium sedan from around USD 150 per day, or a Rolls-Royce on request. Guests with elevated privacy or profile needs can add private security or a police escort from the airport gate onwards.
Three villa days follow, built entirely around you. A villa with car and tour arrangements starts from USD 500 per day. Typical requests: a temple and rice-terrace day with a private guide from USD 250 per day, in-villa spa treatments, a chef’s table in Ubud, or a helicopter tour along the coast from USD 690. Day 4 — Flying east: Bali to Sorong
Raja Ampat is reached through Sorong, in Southwest Papua. Most flights leave Bali late in the evening and land around sunrise, usually with one stop in Makassar; direct services operate on select days and take about three and a half hours. It is a real journey, and we say so plainly — which is exactly why the handling matters. Our agent meets you inside Sorong airport, settles the marine park permits, and brings you by private car and tender to the phinisi. Breakfast is served on deck as the crew slips the lines.
Days 4–8 — Raja Ampat by private phinisi
Four nights aboard your own boat, with crew, chef and cruise director. Luxury-tier phinisi for a small group run USD 3,500 to 8,000 per day, with meals and activities on board included. The classic route threads the Dampier Strait, drifts through Wayag’s blue lagoons, climbs the Piaynemo lookout at first light and, on longer charters, continues south to Misool’s protected marine reserve. Snorkellers float over reefs a metre below the surface. Divers descend with private guides to manta cleaning stations and the resident wobbegong sharks. Children fish from the stern at sunset. Nobody looks at a phone.
Day 8 — Home, or one more slow day
You disembark in Sorong after breakfast and fly back west. Many guests add a recovery day in Bali before the long-haul flight home: a quiet villa, a two-hour massage, an early night. Your departure is fast-tracked through Denpasar just as your arrival was.
When should you go?
We plan this route honestly, because the sea does not read brochures. Raja Ampat’s prime season runs October to April, when crossings are calm and manta encounters peak. From June to September the south-east winds strengthen and many boats reposition elsewhere; if your dates fall badly, we will tell you so rather than sell you a rough week. Bali itself is a year-round destination, so the Bali half of the journey can anchor almost any calendar. The sensible order is to secure the phinisi first, then build the villa days around it — your coordinator will hold boat options while your flights are confirmed.

Questions travellers ask
Do I need to be a certified diver?
No. Most of Raja Ampat’s colour lies within a metre or two of the surface, so snorkellers see mantas, turtles and the famous soft corals without a tank. Certified divers get private guides and boutique-level equipment; everyone else gets the same lagoons, lookouts and beaches.
How many days do I need?
Eight days is the comfortable minimum: three in Bali, four nights on board, one for the return. Ten to twelve days lets the phinisi reach Misool and adds a recovery day in Bali before you fly home. Shorter than seven days, we would honestly steer you to Komodo instead.
Is this journey suitable for children?
Yes, and multi-generation family charters are among our most booked. The crew adapts naturally — earlier dinners, kayaks and fishing lines off the stern, a nanny travelling with you if you wish. We recommend Raja Ampat for children aged six and up; younger families usually prefer the shorter Komodo route.
